The
school I work in is a multicultural community of Serbs, Vlachs and Roms.
Therefore, as one of the priorities in working with students is the development
of multiculturalism on the local as well as at the global level. To this end, I
organize workshops in which we are familiar with the clothes and customs of the
Vlach, at the manifestations with the Serbian national dance "kolo"
we play a Vlach "kolo", we are talking about the famous Vlachs of our
region, we compare words that are the same or similar in Serbian and Vlach
language. we shot a movie about the craft work in the Vlach language, sentences
in the Vlach language are inserted into drama
pieces designed in Serbian ... We organize workshops aimed at accepting Roms as
equal members of our multicultural community. We collected texts about Roms
from our school books, searched through the Internet what Roms were famouos,
discussed stereotypes about Roma, etc. I also achieved intercultural
cooperation with Primary School "Radisav Nikcevic" Majur (near
Jagodina). These are two districts: Pomoravski and Branicevo. On this occasion,
the Facebook page "The Little troop, but Selected" was opened to
students to exchange experiences on customs, linguistic sites, geographical
characteristics, population ... On the the Republican muster "Under the
same sky of our home 2015" the school in Izvarica is among The 22 schools
witch presented their stand.
From
our classroom, a workshop titled "Education for International
Understanding, Peace and Cooperation" was launched, which aimed at
highlighting the importance of tolerance and understanding at the global level
(we were introduced to the interests of individual countries and nations). We
talked about the importance of respecting diversity through several different
workshops.
We
developed communication skills through workshops whose scenarios are guided
by the following links:

I
also realize financial literacy workshops (we are talking about money
relations, money stereotypes, the importance of saving, how we can earn money,
what can money be used for, learn about the delay in meeting the need, and all
this has the goal to enable the students to manage money andinstead of the
unconditional consumer, he becomes a creator.
As a prelude to the basics of trade literacy,
children's fair was used as an example (on the occasion of Children's Week when
a commodity exchange between parents and students was held and on the occasion
of the New Year when they sold works created in a school for money). My
students take part in society and on the occasion of the International Day of
the Elderly, Women's Day, New Years ...
We develop social competencies and readiness
for inclusion in social life through simulation of presidential election
procedures (candidates collect signatures, there is a duel, ballot box, secret
ballot...), as well as preparing for adequate response to the occurrence of
corruption.
We talked about healthy lifestyles in the
workshop "What food-such defense"
The positive and the negative side of technology were discussed in the framework of the mini project "Through the virtual world of the Internet"
From the eco projects, we single out the
project entitled "From garbage to top-notch works"

We
pay a lot of attention to mastering the techniques of learning and
self-learning (this is developed through the teaching of all teaching subjects,
but also through a variety of homework assignments).http://kreativnostnadar.blogspot.rs/2017/03/blog-post_57.html
What should governments, society, schools and teachers do to prepare young people for the future?
I
will answer this question through the so-called. a letter of the future that,
as my idea, will be sent by my former student in 2030. The letter served as an
introduction to a workshop I organized with students.
My
dear teacher,
This 2030s is coming to an end. These days I
often think about you and how far in the future you have been looking when you
told us that setting goals is one of the most important life priorities, when
you taught us to share experiences and multiply ideas, accept differences as wealth,
be open to rapid changes and to not stop learning even when we finish
highschool and college, how you taught us to explore ourselves, financially
literate us and talk about multiculturalism. I remember that we wrote the
so-called letters of the future, imagined how toys would look, and how schools
would look in the future. I know, I know that you did a lot of effort to
prepare us for the future. And as I watch my eight-year-old son learn from home
with a teacher, who from the beginning of the year has never seen him, after a
while I reminis of our warm conversations about some topic. My son told me that
he corresponds and exchanges experiences with some school in Great Britain. I
remember how hard it was for me to learn English language and how long it took
me to learn how to present a presentation in the course of computer science. I
also remember how you taught us to read and write. Todays children learn all
this before going to school and I know that you have a lot to change in your
work. I also know that you had to constantly attend seminars, and I assume that
you are a bit nostalgic because you so proudly carried school logbook when
entering the classroom wich has long since become a historical source that may
still be kept in some archives. These electronic diaries today are somewhat
different. I miss your comments in the notes that you wrote
to us almost at the end of each class. And they also went to the archives. The
notebooks and textbooks have replaced the tablets, and educational information
is sent to us by educational software. I see that the exams also have changed a
lot in comparison to "our time". One click and everything is there.
And how many times have you told us that you have not yet reviewed the tests.
My son told me that the teacher scheduled a meeting for the next month. He also
showed me the photos of the classroom in which he will study occasionally.
Everything is in the hallmark of modern media, and it is connected to all other
classrooms at the local level, with a few on the state and one or two on a
world level. Everyone understands each other, they set each others tasks, and
the teacher is there to give them mostly technical support. I also recall our
textbooks in which most of the questions started with who, where, name. My son
almost solves every problem on a daily basis, constantly discovering and
investigating something. We have also abolished these classes that only blocked
us. This progression at my own pace is somehow better for me because I see that
my son does not lack motivation at any moment. So many changes in such a short
time.
Your
student, Ivana
